A major player in the energy sector commissioned SEMKEL to provide 360° digital security, including cybersecurity and information monitoring. Faced with growing threats - cyber-attacks, leaks of strategic information and disinformation campaigns - the company wanted to strengthen the protection of its digital and informational assets.
In this context, SEMKEL has deployed a Safety Monitoring system to anticipate risks and ensure maximum responsiveness to emerging threats. Here are the 3 phases of our approach:
Discussions with the various departments concerned (IT security, communications, public affairs, legal) to understand the specific issues and potential threats
Identification of critical assets to be protected and definition of monitoring indicators
Development of a structured action plan integrating cybersecurity and strategic intelligence on information threats.
Cyber surveillance: detection of exploitable vulnerabilities, intrusion attempts, data leaks and suspicious activity on the deep and dark web
Information watch: monitoring of speeches and disinformation campaigns that could impact the company on social networks, media and specialized forums
Detection of activist threats: identification of hostile groups, monitoring of activist trends and anticipation of mobilization campaigns against the company.
Implementation of a real-time alert system to notify any critical threat
Monthly report including analysis of trends, detected incidents and recommended corrective actions
Strategic support to adapt security posture and crisis communication.
Thanks to this enhanced digital security, SEMKEL was able to detect in advance an activist campaign targeting a small modular reactor (SMR) project under development by the company.
The previous day's analysis revealed the preparation of a disinformation campaign, including the dissemination of alarmist articles on activist blogs and the organization of a coordinated operation on social networks aimed at discrediting the project.
At the same time, cyber surveillance identified attempted intrusions on servers linked to the project, orchestrated by groups affiliated to the activist movement. Corrective measures were taken immediately to secure the exposed infrastructures and prevent any leakage of sensitive information.
Thanks to this anticipation, the company was able to adjust its communication, counter the spread of false information and strengthen the protection of its project against digital threats. Safety Monitoring 's proactive approach helped preserve the integrity of the infrastructure, data security and reputation of the energy project.
